Family Physician | Women’s Health & Menopause Care in Calgary
For Dr. Marian Atia, medicine has always been about more than diagnosing and treating — it’s about listening, understanding, and connecting. Every patient she meets in her Calgary practice brings a unique story shaped by their background, values, and life experiences. That human diversity — the richness of every narrative — is what first drew her to Family Medicine, and what continues to inspire her daily practice.
Dr. Atia completed her Family Medicine residency at the University of Calgary, where she discovered her love for the continuity and depth of care that family medicine offers. She values the privilege of walking alongside her patients through every stage of life — from childhood to adulthood, through family milestones and life transitions. Her approach is centered on trust, empathy, and partnership, believing that medicine is most effective when built on genuine relationships.
Over time, Dr. Atia developed a special interest in women’s health, particularly during the transformative years of midlife and menopause. She is a Certified Menopause Practitioner through the North American Menopause Society (NAMS) and an active member of the Canadian Menopause Society. With this advanced certification, Dr. Atia provides compassionate, evidence-based menopause care to women in Calgary, helping them understand their symptoms, regain hormonal balance, and thrive in this important phase of life.
“My love for Family Medicine stems from my fascination with diversity,” Dr. Atia shares. “Every encounter challenges me to think deeply — to piece together the medical, emotional, and social parts of a person’s story to create care that truly fits their life.”
Her patients appreciate her warm, approachable nature and the time she takes to ensure they feel heard and understood. She believes that healing begins with trust, and she strives to make every visit feel like a conversation — one rooted in respect and shared decision-making.
Outside of her practice, Dr. Atia finds joy in baking, travelling, and spending quality time with her family. These personal passions reflect her outlook on life: nurturing connection, finding joy in creativity, and always seeking balance.
Whether she’s helping a new mother, supporting a patient through a chronic illness, or guiding a woman looking for an expert in menopause in Calgary, Dr. Atia brings the same warmth, curiosity, and dedication to each encounter — because for her, medicine will always be about the people behind the stories.
